In Autumn 2022, and following the decision by Wem Town Council to demolish the old Wem Sports & Social Club which had been on site since the 1970's, the Football Club approached the council with a request to construct their own facility to add to the matchday and club experience. The proposal included responsibility for the management of the construction and running of the venue.

By late Summer 2023, with the agreement of Wem Sports & Social Association, planning
permission was granted for the Clubhouse and a building identified and purchased by the Football Club

Delivery of the unit was received in December 2023 and work - undertaken by a small team of current and former players and club members - began to transform the unit into a useable space and a venue for all club members to enjoy.

Now a fully licenced bar, selling hot and cold drinks and snacks, and showing TNT Sports , The Dugout is open before and after every Wem Town and Wem Town Colts home fixture, Junior match and the club's Darts & Dominoes team.
